It is final. ABC's "Revenge" has reached the end of the road and the season 5 finale episode will be the last part of Emily Throne's story. After five seasons of being on air and delighting fans with its twists and turns, ABC is pulling the plug for good.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with EP Sunil Nayar about the season 5 finale or series finale that is, he confirmed that it will "be the end of the story."
"We've been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end," Nayar explained.
For many of the fans, the decision to cancel the show wasn't a huge surprise. Fans have complained about the slow storyline and the lack of new ideas in the new season. Other fans believe that "Revenge" has run its full course and it's time to make an exit while the show is ending on a high note.
Later, the fans were convinced that the show was ending when Emily's arch nemesis Victoria Grayson killed herself. Emily's vengeance was the main driver of the show. Without it, it just makes sense that Emily or Amanda Clarke can now live a peaceful life, if that it how her ending is written out.
Meanwhile, Nayar teases that "There's a tiny little cliffhanger in the series finale. We don't want people to get weary of the stories we're telling, so we felt like they deserve an ending to this novel that Mike Kelley started four years ago."
Now, the only question is, what will Emily's fate be? The series finale is titled "Two Graves." Could this hint a bad ending for the main star?
"The hard part about a finale in a show like this is you want to give them some of what they want, some of what they don't know they want yet and some of what they never expected, and it needs to be a perfect mix of all those things. I truly believe our finale is the perfect mix of all those three things. I think they're going to be extremely satisfied," Nayar concluded.
"Revenge" will air its series finale on May 10, Sunday, 10 p.m. on ABC.
