The last episode that aired for "Law & Order: SVU" was truly something special. It was titled "Padre Sandunguero" and it got so much buzz because actress Mariska Hargitay (Sgt. Olivia Benson) directed it. Will episode 13 be a good follow-up to that memorable one shown last week?
Season 16 episode 13 has a far different plot from the previous one. It is titled "Decaying Morality" and fans will understand why it has to be entitled this way. It will be more about "telling a powerful story," as CarterMatt described it. And by the looks of it, this will be a very emotional episode.
NBC has released the promo clip for "Decaying Morality" and from there, one can grasp that the story is about a father and a daughter. A father's love for his daughter is immeasurable. However, when there is law involved, taking matters into one's own hands can lead to a more damaging effect for the family.
The official synopsis for "Decaying Morality" reads:
"Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Rollins (Kelli Giddish) find a teenaged girl crying in the street, her clothes torn. Jenna Davis (guest star Haley Lu Richardson) says she was raped in a pizzeria bathroom by Jerome Jones (guest star Kamal Bolden). Jones has a criminal record as well as a pending lawsuit against the NYPD, but with little evidence to go on, the SVU releases him until an arrest can be made. With emotions running high, Jenna's father (guest star Jamie McShane) takes the law into his own hands with a decision that will change their lives forever."
"Decaying Morality" not only tackles the issue of prevalent rape in society today but it also shows the victim's side and how it affects the family. This episode is a drama-filled one with a bunch of lessons to take away.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 16 episode 13 will air on Feb. 4, 8 p.m. on NBC.
