There seems to be a confusion on whether Guillermo Del Toro will direct an episode for "Hannibal" in Season 3 or not. But the show has admitted it was their mistake and that Del Toro won't be directing an episode after all.
The confusion started when media outlets media outlets published an article on March 31 quoting The De Laurentiis Company's April newsletter. "Shooting back-to-back, the last three episodes of the season are being directed by Guillermo del Toro, Guillermo Navarro, and Michael Rymer."
Seeing Del Toro's name was a big surprise for the fans. But two days later, the excitement died down as the information was, in fact, a mistake.
In a Facebook post dated April 1, The De Laurentiis Company posted "OUR MISTAKE! We are sorry and disappointed to confirm that the information concerning Guillermo Del Toro directing an episode in 'Hannibal' Season 3 is incorrect. The inaccurate information was the result of a miscommunication in the process of editing our April newsletter. We take full responsibility for the error, and extend our most sincere apologies. We are sorry to have disappointed anyone. Whereas we would love to have Guillermo Del Toro direct an episode, his schedule simply did not allow for that this season. Again, our most sincere apologies."
Del Toro's assistant Ian Gibson also set the record straight on his Twitter account, saying "GDT HAS NOT DIRECTED AN EPISODE OF HANNIBAL. Sorry ya'll. If you believe in the MWI then it's possible he has on another earth! Rejoice!"
On the other hand, The De Laurentiis Company did make it clear that Navarro directed Episode 11 and 12, while Rymer directed Episode 13 (season finale).
Also in the newsletter, there's one thing that fans are hoping to be true. As a teaser for Season 3, the De Laurentiis Company is making a promise.
"It may be hard to top last season's finale, but we can promise you a conclusion you won't soon forget!"
"Hannibal" Season 3 will premiere on June 4 with its first episode titled "Antipasto" on NBC.
