"Doctor Who" is still currently filming Season 9 and the new photos uploaded proved that the actors are hard at work in filming on location.
At the official Instagram page of the show, three new photos went live this week. The first was of a blue phone booth in the middle of nowhere and the photo was captioned "Who left the door open?" The next two photos showed actor Peter Capaldi on the set and displaying his yo-yo skills.
These snaps should get the fans excited for Season 9, but there's more news. According to Den of Geek, BBC has confirmed that Maisie Williams (Arya Stark of "Game of Thrones") is joining the cast in the new season.
During the official announcement, creator Steven Moffat remained tight-lipped as to what role Williams will be playing, but still expressed his excitement over the actress.
"We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell," Moffat said.
As for Williams, she is very happy to join a TV show that is huge in her own home town. "I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it's such a big and important part of British Culture. I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming," Williams said.
Meanwhile, it is also confirmed that Mark Gatiss will be writing an episode for Season 9. In an interview with The Telegraph, he said "I'm in the midst of that right now – I broke off to come here today, in fact, but I'm hoping to finish the script tonight. It has been a tough nut to crack, but I'm delighted with how scary it is. I can't say any more than that."
Saying that, Moffat concurs that the 12th Time Doctor will continue to be on the darker side of things. "You're the stern Doctor. You're not the rude Doctor. You're not a brusque Doctor. You're kind of the don't-give-a-damn Doctor!" Moffat shares about what he told Capaldi.
"Doctor Who" Season 9 will premiere within the year.
