If the U.K. has One Direction, then Australia has 5 Seconds of Summer. The Aussie boy band has made a name for itself and continues to draw in a huge fanbase from all over the world. This looks like stiff competition for One Direction in the near future. 

Their story is quite similar to One Direction as well. They were a bunch of high school kids who wanted to live the dream. They were simpletons in their cities and had to adjust in a huge way to adapt to the massive stardom. 

In an interview with Top of the Pops magazine that Unreality TV has unearthed, drummer Ashton Irwin admitted that things weren't always easy for the boys. They had a lot of adjustments to make. 

"To be in a band that wanted to conquer the world you had to be louder than life, you had to be a character. We didn't like that. We felt a bit awkward talking to people. We sucked in interviews when people wanted to find out who we were and what we were up to," Ash told the magazine. 

The guitarist of the band, Michael Clifford, added that he is still surprised when he sees fans turn up in their promo tours and events. For him, he isn't that special to gain that much attention. 

"We always say it's weird that people want to meet us. Even when we're in Milan or New York, they'll be hanging around the radio stations or wherever we're doing promo. When that happens, I always think 'Those fans are here to see us? But I'm not that special,'" he said. 

Being skyrocketed to unprecedented stardom has surely changed their lives. However, Ash is making sure that he is also able to spend time doing what he wants. 

On his personal Twitter account, he tweeted, "Going on another adventure. Talk to you guys really soon! Big big love xx."

Later, it was revealed that he was seen in Queenstown where he gladly posed for a photo with a fan. 

Fans from New Zealand are more than happy to welcome Ashton in Queenstown. Unfortunately, not everyone will catch him as he is there for a mountain adventure.
