Fans waiting for "Wild West Online" can now stop holding their horses and start preparing their ten-gallon hats and six-shooters ready, as the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) set in the 19th-century American frontiers has entered early access status.
Everyone interested can now buy the game, though it is still not complete and still has a lot of bugs and glitches, both of which need to be reported. That said, the upcoming full and complete version should be free for those who purchased the early access.
The early access version of "Wild West Online" includes some of the features of the full version, such as server-wide public player-versus-player (PvP) events, quests and missions, progression system, customization (to a certain degree), and of course, horse customization, to ensure that the trusty steeds can run like the wind.
The full release is just around the corner and is reported to arrive later in the year. As such, more content will be added to the early access version in the weeks leading up to the full release.
The game is popular since it is quite similar to another open-world cowboy game, "Red Dead Redemption," made by Rockstar Games who also created the esteemed "Grand Theft Auto" (GTA) series. One big difference it has from "Red Dead Redemption," however, is that it offers a lot more freedom to the players.
In "Wild West Online," players will be able to create their own characters and stories, but in "Red Dead," there are only pre-set storylines. This freedom will allow "Wild West Online" players to either be a law-enforcer, outlaw, or pioneer in the Western Frontier. Additionally, how they play and interact with others is entirely up to them. As such, players will be able to mine gold, steal or murder, hunt down bounties and lawbreakers, or simply roam the in-game deserts on horses. Thess can all be done alone or with friends
As mentioned, the game is still in early access, and there is still a lot of work to be done before the final polished release, but it is now available in Townie (€29.99), Collector (€49.99), or Pioneer (€79.99). No exact release date for the complete version has been confirmed yet, but players will be able to channel their inner Clint Eastwood once the full game arrives before the year ends.
