When you're broken, get ready to be used by God

Some people think that God can and will only use the lives of perfect and qualified people for His greater glory. Nothing could be more true. But before you go ahead and throw in the towel and call it quits, understand this: that our qualification and perfection come not because of what we do, but because of what Jesus has done and will do through you.

All throughout scripture, we read about people who messed things up only to be vindicated and empowered by God to do greater works of service. Peter denied Jesus three times, Paul persecuted and organised Christian arrests, David became a corrupt and greedy king and Abraham got scared for his own life and lied about his wife. All these men have three things in common: they messed up greatly, God vindicated them and they were reestablished to do greater things.

If you've ever failed, sinned, messed up or felt unqualified to be used by God to do great things, welcome to the club. Romans 3:23 reminds us that "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." But God does not let our disqualification become the end of our purpose. Instead, He brought to us Jesus Christ so that He would be our atoning sacrifice and our key to greater power through the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." When you are not enough, Jesus will be more than enough for you to fulfil greater things for God.

God has a radical plan for each and every one of you and He intends to let it happen. So what is our role in all of this? Our role is simple: Put our trust in Him and obey whatever He commands us to do. What often stops us from obeying is our wrong perspective of ourselves. We think that just because we've messed up that we no longer have the right to continue.

But God calls us to return to Him when we fall and fail. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." If you haven't even tried, God will guide your ways and make your paths straight if you acknowledge Him. If you've failed, God will restore you back to winning form and get you back in the game. God doesn't need qualified super Christians, just humble and obedient ones.
