Dolores will be showing a different side of her character when "Westworld" returns for its second season.

HBO's "Westworld" was a breakout hit for the network when it was released in 2016. The show's successful first season concluded with an intense and shocking twist when the retired hosts descended upon the park's very important persons (VIPs). Dolores remained a bit passive for a huge part of season 1, but viewers can expect to see the layered protagonist in a new light when season 2 picks up.

Actress Evan Rachel Wood recently caught up with Entertainment Weekly and she shared that her character's personality will significantly change next season."I'm really curious to see the unleashed version of her that we caught a glimpse of at the very end of the finale," the actress said, adding, "Those final seconds, I think we were seeing a completely different side to her, completely different programming and completely off of her leash, so I don't think she will be the same person; she'll be an evolved version."

Wood's Dolores had a rough awakening in season 1 when she discovered that her memories were jumbled.  While her role in the park was to become a victim for guests to hurt and kill, Anthony Hopkins' Dr. Ford decided to change things up and tweak Dolores' programming. The hosts are now capable of harming everyone in the park, with Dolores beginning the chaos by shooting Ford's head.

Louis Herthum, who plays Dolores' father Peter, has recently been promoted to series regular in season 2. This could mean that Peter's presence will shape Dolores' character as the story moves forward.

As ComicBook points out, Dolores might become more murderous in season 2. Dolores and James Marsden's Teddy will no longer have the future they were programmed to, considering Dolores' recent actions. With Thandie Newton's Maeve breaking the cycle of her programming in the finale, hosts might become more autonomous in the show's sophomore run.

The second season of "Westworld" is expected to premiere sometime in  2018 on HBO.
