Fans have been waiting for the return of "Westworld" on the small screen. After the first season ended in December 2016, HBO has yet to announce the return of television adaptation of the 1973 science-fiction Western thriller film of the same name. However, thanks to Evan Rachel Wood, who plays the role of Dolores Abernathy, the release date for season 2 has been revealed.
On Twitter, a fan asked the 30-year-old actress when the second season will come out. "Can you please tell us when Westworld will be returning!? I'm going crazy," her follower said.
She then replied with, "Spring 2018."
"Westworld" season 2's official release date has not been officially announced. In fact, its home network, HBO, is not yet talking about it. Nevertheless, the show's production already started in July, and it is confirmed to be seen on the small screen in 2018. Since no definite date has been provided yet, Wood's tweet gave hope to a lot of fans who believed that the series might be delayed.
This is because of Zahn McClarnon's accident. The 51-year-old "Longmire" star was rushed to the hospital after a serious head injury as he fell somewhere at his home. As he is believed to play an important role in "Westworld" season 2, filming has to be halted. Fortunately, he is now on his way to recovery and production was not affected.
Also, the HBO series' showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy earlier said that they would be taking more time than usual to make the second season better than its predecessor. So, the network granted their wish and gave a long time to write the scripts and to perfect the production.
"Westworld" season 2 is expected to replace "Game of Thrones," which is about to come to an end. Its eighth and final season is expected to be out in 2019.
