Respawn Entertainment will be releasing fresh content for "Titanfall 2" in the coming weeks.
According to reports, the studio has laid out its April to June downloadable content (DLC) plans for the shooter sequel. The series of upcoming add-ons will include a new Titan, a new faction, new cosmetic items and an increase in the Generation cap. The DLC should be free, and it will feature new classes, modes, maps and weapons as well.
Two Live Fire maps are expected to arrive — the lightning fast one-minute rounds and the six versus six pilot combat. In addition, two general multiplayer maps called Relic and Glitch will be added to the acclaimed first-person shooter (FPS). Similar to how the other maps were released since the title's launch in November, the four upcoming maps will be available for free.
Aside from the major content drop, Respawn has also announced the less dramatic updates that will be heading to the game before July. These small tweaks include a new faction, a game mode called "Marked for Death," additional Pilot executions and a Gen cap that's increased to 100. More skins, camos and other offerings can be purchased from the store by using in-game currency, and improvements have been made to matchmaking and Private Match settings.
"Titanfall 2" developers have been pushing for free content and increased communication with players for a while now. Unlike most FPS games, the sequel was launched without a season pass, so the studio assured players that post-launch content would be free for everyone. Respawn recently dropped the free Colony Reborn expansion which included a new map, weapon and two additional Prime Titans.
Even though EA has not revealed an exact date on when the new content will be live, a previous blog post noted that a DLC pack titled "A Glitch in the Frontier" is up for an April release. Given its name, players can expect the Glitch multiplayer map to be included in the said expansion.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, "Titanfall 2" is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
