After taking a one month break, "The Flash" season 3 returns with episode 19 with Flash (Grant Gustin) time travelling once again.
In the previous episode of the show, Flash learned from Abra Kadabra that he is from the future and knows about the identity of the god of speed Savitar. With this, Flash decides to learn more about his enemy so that he can find ways to defeat him.
Titled "The Once and Future Flash," the official synopsis for the upcoming episode reveals Flash will travel to 2024 to find out more about the identity of Savitar. He will travel alone, as his team will remain in 2017 to look for the killer Frost. It seems that his time travel will reveal more than what he intended to learn, as he will find out more about the fate of his friends after the death of Iris (Candice Patton) in episode 19.
In the promotional preview of the upcoming episode, Flash travels to 2024 and sees the place full of shambles. He learns that everyone in his team has changed after Iris died, including his future self, as they are having a hard time to accept what happened to Iris.
In an interview with TVLine, Patton revealed that the future version of their friends are very much affected with her character's death after their fight with Savitar.
She said, "It's a future where Iris has been killed, and everyone is changed because of it."
The actress added, "You see this older version of Barry Allen that has not really ever gotten over the death of Iris West. He's in shambles."
Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month, Gustin hinted that the upcoming episode is going to be the "most involved trip to the future or the past" because he will get clues on how things turned out the way they did and how to prevent it.
"The Flash" season 3 airs episode 19 on Tuesday, April 25, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
