'Supernatural' season 11 episode 16 spoilers: Bobby and Rufus return to assist the Winchesters in defeating a dangerous enemy

Bobby and Rufus return in Supernatural season 11. The CW

The Winchester brothers will work once again with Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Rufus (Steven Williams) in this week's episode of "Supernatural."

According to the official synopsis for the episode, titled "Safe House," Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) will work with Bobby and Rufus on a case that the latter duo has already dealt with.

The official synopsis of the flashback-heavy episode reads:

"A dangerous creature is accidentally released into an old house, attacking a mother and her child, leaving them both in a coma. Sam and Dean learn that Bobby and Rufus once tracked the same entity so the Winchesters look to the past to come up with a plan to catch the monster before any one dies."

Bobby was last seen in the series in the episode titled "Inside Man" in season 10, where he lent his hand to the Winchester brothers to win against Metatron. Meanwhile, Rufos' last appearance on the show was through Bobby's visions in an episode in season 7.

Beaver talked about his character's return to the horror fantasy drama series in an interview with Examiner, saying that it felt great to work with Williams again despite their opposite approaches to doing their jobs.

According to the actor, Williams is great at doing ad libs, while he normally follows the script. But he believes that their differences work since they always have a lot of fun on the set. "Bobby and Rufus are a great odd couple. They could probably do that play together, except they'd both have to play the slob," Beaver revealed.

The actor also revealed that working on the set of The CW's long-running fantasy horror series is always a delight, but it is not a playground contrary to what the viewers believe.

"It's a workplace that's fun to be in. It's not a playground," Beaver said. "I know that disappoints everyone who wants to think our gag reels are the prime examples of what every minute of the day is like, but that's why those moments are in the gag reels: They're special and unusual."

"Supernatural" season 11 episode 16 airs on The CW on Wednesday, March 23.
