Despite the announcement of film director Rian Johnson that the filming for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" officially wrapped up in July, actress Lupita Nyong'o revealed that she has yet to shoot her scenes for the upcoming movie.

In an interview with Collider during the Toronto International Film Festival, where the Academy Award-winning actress appeared during the premiere of her new dramatic biopic titled "Queen of Katwe," Nyong-o revealed that she still has to work on the set of Johnson's upcoming "Star Wars" installment for her character, Maz Kanata.

"Rian! I haven't worked with him yet; I've yet to shoot. That's in my future," the actress stated in the interview.

This could mean that the scenes of the wise pirate will be recorded during the film's post-production stage.

At the end of "Star Wars: Episode VII," fans of the epic sci-fi saga discovered that Kanata's castle on Takodana had been destroyed during the attack of The First Order. But since she already signed up to be an ally of the Resistance, the character could probably pave the way to unveil the truth about Rey's (Daisy Ridley) identity.

Meanwhile, Mark Hamill seemed to tease that his character, Luke Skywalker, could be involved in one of the epic scenes for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" — one that is possibly filled with a lot of special effects.

"But I came home and I realized, 'oh my gosh, they have an interview for me tomorrow afternoon. I haven't watched [The Killing Joke], and the day after I start on a sequence, an elaborate special effects sequence where I'm not going to be able to do anything. I have to focus specifically on the Episode VIII scene I'm doing," the actor stated during the Salt Lake Comic-Con in early September, as reported by ComicBook.com.

More details about "Star Wars: Episode VIII" are expected to be unveiled before the movie comes out on Dec. 15, 2017.
