The San Francisco Giants have been in contact with Billy Hamilton, who currently plays center field for the Cincinnati Reds. As it turns out, the Giants are looking to acquire Hamilton's talents even before the season starts in order to fill their roster with better talent, and it is no secret that Hamilton's potential contributions to the Giants' stellar roster will push the offensive capabilities of the team forward.

According to reports, the communication between the Giants and the management of the Cincinnati Reds has been constant. However, it appears that if anything were to stifle the off-season trade, it would be due to Cincinnati's incredibly high demands. As it turns out, the Reds are highly interested in the 2017 Giants' first rounder, Heliot Ramos, who performed extraordinarily during the 151 Arizona Rookie League appearance.

Ramos scored six home runs and 10 steals. Given Ramos' potential, the Reds would have to offer another significant player for the deal to be interesting for both teams. If the Reds do not offer another player apart from Hamilton for the promising rookie, analysts feel that the deal would not be fair for the Giants.

It is notable to mention that moving Hamilton to the Giants would leave the Reds with a gaping hole for the role of center field, and nobody to fill it.

This means that the Reds would have to give up more players for the exchange, and this is not something that they want to do at this point in the off-season. If the deal becomes unlikely, the Giants will have to look at the free agency market, where Cameron Maybin, Jarrod Dyson, Peter Bourjos, and Austin Jackson are still potentially suitable fits to bolster the team's outfield defense.

Recruiting Hamilton to the Giants is not exactly old news, since the center field player was contacted by the Giants during the last season as well.
