While fans continue to wait for the premiere date of "Rick and Morty" season 3, speculations about the plot of the series never cease to end.
According to reports, the third season of the adult animated science fiction sitcom will be the longest one yet since it will span for 14 episodes this time. The series only had 11 episodes during its first season, while the sophomore installment only had 10 episodes. This means that viewers will be treated to a bigger helping of hysterical episodes when the animated series returns for season 3.
Another report also claimed that Mr. Meeseeks will return in "Rick and Morty" season 3. But instead of being voiced by series creator Justin Roiland, the character will be voiced by "Fast and Furious" star Vin Diesel.
The blue-skinned alien is being considered to return in the next installments of the animated series after it was introduced in the season 1 episode titled "Meeseeks and Destroy."
"Throughout the course of season three, we've had Meeseeks in two or three episodes and ultimately cut it," Roiland said in an interview with Slash Film. "It's just like a background. It's not really servicing something new. It feels too cutesy," he added.
Writer Ryan Ridley also told the publication that Meeseeks' return could allow them to come up with a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" spoof. The writer said: "There's a [potential] episode where Meeseeks is like Q and the Borg in the Next Generation mythology. Meeseeks is different. I'm not saying we're doing that. If we're going to do that, it's motivated by what do we know about the Meeseeks and how can we open up that mythology instead of just having Justin going, 'I'm Mr. Meeseeks.'"
There are no confirmed statements, as of the moment, regarding the possibility of Mr. Meeseeks' return as well as Diesel's participation in the animated series.
Other rumors also claimed that Rick's ex-wife will help him escape the Galactic Federation prison.
Adult Swim is expected to announce the release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3 soon.
