The long-awaited return of "Reign" season 3 will finally happen with the airing of the midseason premiere on Monday, showing Mary's (Adelaide Kane) steps to help save the French throne.

In the sneak peek for the episode, titled "Succession," Mary gives the upcoming French king and her late husband's youngest brother, Charles (Spencer MacPherson), a gift and a very important piece of advice leading toward his coronation.

According to Mary, Charles's older brother, Francis (Toby Regbo), was very fidgety and nervous during the time of his own coronation, causing his hands to turn sweaty. Because of this, the scepter that the cardinal placed in his hands almost fell to the floor. This was why he decided to bring with him a piece of cloth to serve as a handkerchief whenever he attended any festive occasion.

Thus Mary decided to give Charles his older brother's handkerchief to calm his nerves during his own coronation ceremony. Upon receiving it, Charles tells her that she just gave him the most useful advice that he received pertaining to the occasion. The pair's conversation is interrupted by his mother Catherine (Megan Follows) when the ceremony is about to begin.

The episode is scheduled to air on Monday, April 25.

Meanwhile, CarterMatt talked about the events that will happen in episode 13, titled "Strange Bedfellows." According to the publication, Mary will unexpectedly protect her nemesis Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) from another attack after somebody poisoned her at the end of the midseason finale. However, Mary will realize that she made a mistake when her action placed Gideon (Ben Geurens) in a compromising position.

The synopsis for the episode reads:

"Mary, in order to protect Elizabeth, unknowingly puts Gideon's life in danger. To save him, Mary turns to another Englishman for help – Robert Dudley (Charlie Carrick). Meanwhile, Bash (Torrance Coombs) is determined to track down the men behind the threats to Catherine."

The 13<sup>th episode of "Reign" season 3 airs on Monday, May 9, on The CW.
