Rockstar Games has been spilling a few details about the upcoming game sequel "Red Dead Redemption 2" for the past months, although many fans are not satisfied with these tidbits of information. Some people have resorted to datamining and reading hard-coded files to get a scoop. Fortunately, a bunch of players were able to find something interesting about "RDR2," which was spotted in "GTA Online."
As reported by Polygon, dataminers were able to decode game files from "GTA Online," which lead to a possible mission in "Red Dead Redemption 2." It seems unlikely that this quest has anything to do with "Grand Theft Auto," and further confirming its connection with the "Red Dead Redemption" series is the Western-themed weapon. Specifically, the game mission in question will grant a bonus weapon in the form of a new revolver.
After learning about an exclusive content from "Red Dead Redemption 2" that is not yet released, dataminers are now trying to figure out how to unlock the revolver gun in the shortest possible time once the mission goes live next year. However, this is a far more challenging work than simply reading the "GTA Online" coded files. Game developers have been trying their best to prevent dataminers from spilling vital details about their upcoming titles, but they end up failing most of the time.
Following this big reveal for "Red Dead Redemption 2," it looks like Rockstar gave in and confirmed the existence of the mission and revolver weapon spotted in "GTA Online." Apparently, the game studio does intend to show the new weapon to the players at this point in time, as players are given the chance to unlock the revolver gun prior to the "RDR2" launch by finishing the headset challenge in "GTA Online."
"Rumors of a lost relic from the frontier have begun to surface, and treasure awaits those bold enough to seek it", Rockstar revealed in Newswire. "Keep an eye on your iFruit for a special in-game email containing the first clue, then follow the trail to unlock the Double-Action Revolver in GTA Online."
"Red Dead Redemption 2" is set to launch in PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platform sometime in 2018.
