Real Housewives of New York City season 8: Bethenny Frankel hoping she can avoid surgery

It has been a season of struggle for Bethenny Frankel who is still trying to find a solution to her ill-health that will not involve her going under the knife.

Frankel has been hit by a range of health issues lately, including enlarged fibroids and vaginal bleeding.

This week on "The Real Housewives of New York City," Frankel went to get a second opinion after being told by her doctor that she would have to have surgery to remove her fibroids.

Frankel doesn't feel ready for it and was relieved to hear from a second doctor, Dr Erica Schwartz that there are still other options that can be explored before they need to consider surgery.

She advised progesterone pills, which was clearly music to the ears of a much happier looking Frankel.

While things are looking better for Frankel, there's still plenty of drama to be had and at the moment, much of it surrounds the blossoming relationship between Luann de Lesseps and Tom D'Agostino.

While Luann may be delighted with the way things are going, the other real housewives are a little more cynical.

They let their feelings be known at a dinner hosted by Dorinda Medley.  When the subject of conversation turned to Luann and Tom, Bethenny said that Tom previously Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan, to which Sonja said they had been "friends with benefits" for 10 years.

This was too much for Luann, who walked out of the dinner.

"When you're here and you're feeling great, and you're in love, everybody tries to rip you down!" she said.

"All of my friends are happy for me except you [expletive]! Why?"

On her Bravo blog, Luann said she thought the other housewives were jealous of her new-found romance.

"I think they are jealous that I found my soul mate and that I'm getting married," Luann wrote. "I expect my friends to defend me and to be happy for me (and not gossip about me behind my back)."

She also brushed off Sonja's "friends with benefits" comment.

"I really don't care who he slept with before me!" said Luann. "What matters is that we are very happy and planning our future together."

The drama will rumble on in the next episode, "All Bets Are Off" when Ramona attempts to patch things up with Luann get a frosty reception.  But she's not the only one with love on the cards as the ladies will set up a blind date for Sonja.

"The Real Housewives of New York City" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
