'Rainbow Six Siege' adds annoying phones, invisibility cloak in its latest update 'White Noise'

Ubisoft's first-person shooter "Rainbow Six Siege" is gearing up towards a major update. Dubbed "White Noise," it introduces a lot of game-changing elements that will revitalize the game's multiplayer experience.

The most interesting element of the fresh content is the new playable characters. According to Ubisoft, they are two of the finest Operators from the Republic of Korea's 707th Special Mission Battalion (707th SMB). These two are codenamed Dokkaebi and Vigil.

Dokkaebi, also known as Grace Nam, is a tech prodigy from Seoul, Korea. Her special ability is tied to her laptop named "Logic Bomb," which she can use to hack into enemy phones. Basically, she can remotely turn the enemy's phones on and make them emit loud noises to disrupt communications as well as give away their position.

To utilize this feature and the character's power, players need to press and hold the 5 key to get rid of it. This may sound like a minor inconvenience, but it hits hard when Dokkaebi's team is on the assault and the defenders' communications are impaired. The defending team is also torn between keeping their guns up and getting rid of the noise that their phones are giving off.

Vigil, also known as Chul Kyung Hwa, comes from a family of refugees that found asylum in South Korea. His special gadget is called the Electronic Rendering Cloak (ERC-7), which is an invisibility cloak. With the ERC-7 he can traverse through areas completely unseen; even security cameras will not detect his presence.

Along with these two operators comes a new map. The place is called the Mok Myeok Tower, and the appeal is centered on its multiple levels. There are not much outdoor areas on this map, but the "verticality" of the Tower — with elevators and stairs across multiple floors — offers a lot of tactical possibilities.

The "White Noise" update for "Rainbow Six Siege" is expected to come out this month. The two new characters are automatically unlocked for those who have a Season Pass with seven-day exclusive access. After that period, the operators can be unlocked with Renown or R6 credits.
