Pastor Ed Young and wife Lisa explain why Sigmund Freud failed to grasp what it is women truly want: He had a God gap

Sigmund Freud might be recognised as the father of psychoanalysis, but the world-renowned doctor still failed to understand what is it that women truly want, and megachurch Pastor Ed Young said that it is only through God that it is possible to discover the answer to this mystery.

Quoting Freud, Young said: "The great question that has never been answered and which I have not yet been able to answer, despite my 30 years of research into the feminine soul, is, 'What does a woman want?'"

The famos psychoanalyst wrote a 1925 paper entitled "The Psychical Consequences of the Anatomic Distinction Between the Sexes" where he sought to better understand women, but he described them as being inferior to men and even deduced: "Women oppose change, receive passively, and add nothing of their own."

Young and his wife Lisa concluded that Freud was unable to get his answer simply because he had a "God gap," then set out to explain how people can better understand women.

"The better we know God, the better we know ourselves," Lisa said. Her husband added that when women know themselves, then others can know them better as well.

The couple suggested that people live by the "BPC" principle, which stands for Bible, prayer, and church. Young said that reading the Bible requires people to "mirror" God's Word, prayer means having a conversation with God, and going to church helps people know God better.

Lisa said that the second step to understand women is to know that "what matters is the matter." She explained that men and women have different brain matter, and that God created man and woman to complement each other.

At the same time, a woman's father, boyfriend, or husband cannot replace God's ability to provide a woman true security, she added.

"When you take your eyes off God, you begin to feel insecure, a feeling that most women struggle with in their lives, and takes us off-track," Lisa said. "Don't let insecurity steal the position that God has for you."

The couple stressed that a woman needs to be affirmed in God's love, and be reminded that they can be forgiven of past sins and believe that they are valuable and beautiful.

"When we see ourselves as God sees us, I think we'll understand the beauty of who we are," Lisa said.
