OnePlus is expected to unveil its next-generation flagship smartphone sometime this year, but leaked reports regarding the rumored OnePlus 5 still surface online.
A report from India Today Tech confirms that the upcoming smartphone from the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer will come with a rear-end dual camera.
If the device will indeed come with a dual camera feature, it means the company will pit it against the current industry leaders like the iPhone 7 Plus and the Xiaomi Mi 6.
The device is also expected to come with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, just like the one featured in OnePlus 3T.
The report claims that sources, who are said to have seen the upcoming device can verify the dual camera rumors of the soon-to-be-released OnePlus 5, also mention that the fifth-generation OnePlus smartphone will look similar to the current flagship device, the OnePlus 3T. This means the new device will come out with the same brushed aluminum frame with rounded edges.
However, the upcoming device will have a seamless rear despite sporting the same antenna lines that can be seen in the latest generation of the OnePlus products.
Also, the report mentions that the fingerprint scanner seems missing in the design of the OnePlus 5. This could mean the sensor will be relocated under the front screen.
Other speculations about the upcoming device claim that OnePlus 5 will have a 5.5-inch display screen, 6 GB of RAM with two storage options to choose from, and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
For those who are wondering why the next-generation OnePlus will skip the number 4 since products from the Chinese mobile manufacturer use numerical progression in naming their product lines is because the number 4 signifies bad luck in the Chinese culture. This is why the company decided to name its next flagship phone after the succeeding number.
