Urban fantasy, crime-thriller "Bright" is coming to Netflix on Dec. 22. The upcoming film stars Will Smith as a Los Angeles Department officer in an alternate reality earth where humans and fantasy creatures such as orcs, elves, and fairies co-exist.
In "Bright," officer Daryl Ward (Will Smith) is partnered up with an Orc officer named Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton). One night, the two are patrolling the streets as usual, when they encountered something strange even for the alternate earth's standards. The two saw a powerful artifact and learned about a darkness that threatens the world. With their newfound knowledge, they end up getting pulled into a big adventure.
"Bright's" trailer was uploaded to Netflix's YouTube channel on Oct. 25. Nearly three minutes long, the trailer featured Daryl and Nick responding to a disturbance call late at night. They arrived at the scene and immediately someone saw them and opened fire on them.
The trailer featured several montages that gave avid viewers a glimpse of alternate Los Angeles and the fantastic creatures who inhabited it. Aside from that, it dropped hints on the film's plot and brought up a small tidbit about the magic artifact that Daryl and Nick ran into as well as the chaos that followed.
"Bright" was directed by David Ayer, the director of "Suicide Squad." Aside from "Bright," Netflix is also going to debut a handful of other original shows in December.
Coming on Dec.1 is the German mystery series titled "Dark." The upcoming show has been compared to "Stranger Things" and follows a similar premise. Two young boys go missing in a small town, and odd things began to dominate the town.
Not only that, but "The Crown Season 2" a political drama based on Queen Elizabeth II is also coming to Netflix alongside a handful of other TV series and movies as well.
