Streaming giant Netflix has just released the German supernatural series "Dark" this month, and has already given the green light for a second season. This is the direct effect of the show being received so well across the globe despite the production being entirely in German and being set in present-day Germany.

According to reports, the show's creators, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, are beyond ecstatic at the news of the series being picked up so quickly by the streaming juggernaut. In a statement that the creators released following the news of a season 2 renewal, both Odar and Friese stated that they are "overwhelmed" by the positive feedback that the first season of "Dark" was able to accumulate all around the world.

It seems that the various twists and turns in a delicate but complicated science-fiction and time-bending inspired story of "Dark" captivated its viewers. Cinema Blend states that the expectations that viewers had after they saw the trailer of "Dark" went sky high, and after just 10 episodes, with an estimated one-hour run time per episode, proved more than enough to stir the viewers to asking for more of the mystery thriller series.

On top of that, "Dark" has been dubbed as a good substitute for the already popular Netflix original series "Stranger Things."

Vice president of international originals for Netflix Kelly Luegenbiehl said that the show is unlike any story that the streaming giant has witnessed anywhere in the world. The main ingredient to the success of "Dark" is the fact that it puts a lot of emphasis on its unique narrative, which is described to "transcend geography." There is definitely much to the established narrative that needs to unfold, and it should please fans to know that it will definitely happen.

As of now, there has not been any announcement regarding the release date for season 2 of "Dark."
