
Despite previous reports claiming that Wilmer Valderrama's character will serve as a replacement for the beloved character Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), the actor claimed that his role will pave a different path for "NCIS" season 14.
"[Weatherly] had a fantastic journey with the show. The truth is there's no shoes to fill, I'm definitely wearing my own," the actor said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con Thursday. "I'm excited because as a new member of NCIS I get to bring a new energy to it, a different dynamic."
The "That '70s Show" alum will portray the role of Nick, a former field agent turned "loose cannon" after doing an undercover mission. According to the actor, he immediately sprang into action as soon as the production for the 14<sup>th season started.
"We're at day five of shooting on the first episode. Already there's been a couple of explosions and I shot a guy off of a motorcycle already," he stated, adding: "I am crazy."
Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for an official statement from CBS regarding the plans for Sarah Clarke's role as FBI Agent Tess Monroe in the 14<sup>th season of "NCIS."
Monroe was introduced in the last two episodes of season 13 together with "24" alum Duane Henry, who began to play the role of Clayton Reeves last season. While Henry has been promoted as a series regular for the upcoming season, the network remains mum about Clarke's fate.
The actress revealed that she was filming an indie movie in May based on her Instagram post, and she is also a part of the Amazon Prime series "Bosch" at the moment. But she and the network have yet to address if she will return to the long-running police procedural drama this fall.
"NCIS" season 14 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
