The National Day of Prayer 2014 is on May 1st, and churches, community organizations, and neighborhoods across the country are ready to intercede on behalf of our nation's leaders.

The Day "stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people," the National Day of Prayer's Task Force website states.

All faiths are invited to participate in the annual observance, which was signed into law in 1952.

"The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds," the website continues.

In New York and New Jersey, many fire stations, churches, and municipal buildings are hosting prayer meetings. A group in Weehawken, New Jersey is meeting at The Hudson Riverfront 9/11 Memorial to pray from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The group cites Romans 15:6: "So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

The Congregation Lion Of Judah is hosting their "That They May Be One: Clergy and Intercessors United In Prayer" worship service in Boston beginning at 7 p.m. All denominations are welcome as the church prays for revival and reformation in our country.

San Diego elected officials, business owners, church leaders, and their staff are invited to attend El Cajon, California's Annual East County Mayor's Lunch at 11:30 a.m. The event, presented by The Rock Church San Diego, is an example of "churches, government, and business working together."

The Family Worship Centerin Santa Fe will be having a teen/youth community prayer service at 6:30 p.m. The service is part of the church's "The Spot Youth Ministry."

In Tacoma, Washington, all are welcome to join fellow prayer warriors at Cheney Stadium at noon. The group will be praying for the "seven pillars of America: Government, Military/First Responders, Media/Entertainment, Businesses, Education, Churches and Families."

More information and hundreds of other events across the country are available on NationalDayofPrayer.org.
