Matt Lauer, commonly known as the morning news host of "Today," was fired by NBC News on Nov. 29 when a detailed complaint by a former work colleague accused him of "inappropriate sexual behavior." Friends, co-workers, and relatives of Lauer were all shocked by the news, as Lauer's public persona was a doting dad and a certified family man.

Apparently, Lauer was a womanizer, and even though it is the first time NBC News have gotten wind of a sexual misconduct complaint against the popular TV host, the news organization stated that they have reasons to believe that the complaint was not an isolated incident.

Matt Lauer has been hosting "Today" over two decades and was a popular celebrity figure during his time. Yet, behind the scenes, who is Matt Lauer?

Before he became a staple figure in "Today," Matt Lauer worked in several news shows across Boston, Philadelphia, and Providence. He was initially married to his first wife, TV producer Nancy Alspaugh in 1981 before divorcing in 1988. He then married his second wife, former model Annette Roque in 1998.

Despite their seven-year union, Lauer did not have any children with Alspaugh. Today, he has three children with wife Roque, namely: Jack, Romy, and Thijs.

It was not publicized what made Lauer and Alspaugh's marriage collapse. However, during the time when Lauer was under fire under infidelity rumors that nearly caused his divorce with his second wife, Alspaugh said to National Enquirer: "I was not shocked to hear that but it's very sad."

Alspaugh was a successful producer and screenwriter, earning her several awards over the years. Years after her split with Lauer, she was then remarried to FOX executive H. Read Jackson, who passed away in 2016 due to cancer.

After Lauer's termination from "Today," several other issues have sprung up about the former host's shady past and alleged womanizing ways. Apparently, the complaint that caused Lauer's termination occurred during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, when he allegedly raped a colleague inside his office.

Matt Lauer has yet to comment on the issues thrown at him.
