American actor Matt Damon is one of the Hollywood personalities who have apologized for offending people through some controversial statements regarding sexual harassment. Damon owned up to his actions and assured audiences and fans that he will be more attentive to what is going on as the transition in the entertainment business is still ongoing. 

Damon paid Today a visit in an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford last Tuesday, Jan. 16, to explain himself to the viewers, as well as to his loyal fans. In his apology, he stated that he should have "listened" instead of making premature comments and opinions about the "Me Too" movement. After making his public apology, Damon also discussed the nonprofit Water.org, whose aim is to ensure clean water for everybody. 

Numerous people called Damon out after the 47-year-old actor suggested that each accused actor should be handled as individual cases, while also suggesting that there should be a shot at redemption for some of them. Furthermore, Damon recognized that this is a very sensitive time, and made it clear that he has no intention of making it more difficult for any woman to claim their right to safety from potential sexual violations from corrupt men in the business. 

Additionally, Damon also affirmed that he completely supports the "Time's Up" movement, and even stated that many of the women who are part of the campaign are among his closest friends. However, it is notable to mention that some of the people who called the actor out prior to his apology are fellow actors Alyssa Milano and Minnie Driver -- who starred alongside Damon in his breakout film "Good Will Hunting."

Damon recognized that he should "take the backseat" as these issues continue to be tackled.
