Electronics company LG will soon exhibit the world's largest "rollable" organic light-emitting diode display. The display measures 65 inches in size.

It is reported to be one of the world's first true "rollable" TVs. The monitor will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There have been some monitors showcased at CES in the past year which can be bent a little, but LG's is the first one that can actually be rolled like a tube. This makes it very portable, with its tube size no larger than a sound bar (a speaker designed as a long horizontal bar, usually found in home entertainment systems).

The "rollable" display is an especially interesting device, since it means that bulky TVs will be a thing of the past. If LG's display standard catches on, TVs could be easily carried around in light, tube-shaped cases.

To LG's credit, they seem to have maximized the potential of the OLED technology with the upcoming monitor.

This is actually the secret to the monitor — an OLED screen designed to be so thin that it becomes as flexible as a thin strip of film or a sheet of paper. Even in that state, the display can still support ultra high-definition (UHD) display with 4K resolution.

This is not the first time that LG has attempted to showcase a "rollable" TV. At CES 2018, they also showed a similar product, although smaller in scale. It was an 18-inch "rollable" TV sporting 1200x810 resolution. It does not even support full high-definition (HD) display, but the concept was impressive for its time.

LG has also manufactured TVs that will be at the forefront ofCES this year. In addition to standard features, their new line of TVs will integrate Alexa and Google Assistant in addition to the default manufacturer artificial intelligence (AI).
