Former lovers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were reportedly spotted at the same church on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, but the former couple arrived and left the service separately.

According to ET Online, Bieber attended Hillsong Church wearing a palm tree-print cardigan and khaki pants.

One source stressed that Gomez and Bieber did not arrive at the venue together, but there was no indication of bad blood between them.

"They were at church last night, they didn't arrive or leave together, but they were very friendly and civil. They're still very close. It's not awkward between them at all," the source said, as reported by ET Online.

The source further claimed that Bieber still has feelings for Gomez, but they aren't getting back together because Gomez wants some time to focus on herself.

The former couple's friends are having a difficult time trying to figure out their situation, according to the source.

"Everyone's always guessing, 'Are they or aren't they [together]?' They've had a very volatile relationship in the past, so everyone is bracing themselves for it to turn south again, but so far it's been fine," the source said, according to ET Online.

It was reported that it was Gomez's choice to split with Bieber. "Selena realized even though he's made some positive improvements, they just aren't a perfect match right now," a source told E! News.

On Thursday, Bieber was seen working out at the gym with model Baskin Champion, who has been linked with the Canadian pop sensation last month after they attended a Craig David concert together.

Bieber recently spent some time singing Christian worship songs to his social media followers.

Earlier this week, the 24-year-old singer posted a story on his Instagram page singing Cory Asbury's "Reckless Love," with one post captioned with the text, "God's love is reckless and he loves you mad tons."

Late last month, The Sun reported that Bieber is working on a comeback album that will reflect his Christian faith.

The pop singer reportedly became disinterested in making new music after finishing the Purpose tour last year, but he now wants to work on an album that would be more in line with his values and beliefs.

A source told The Sun that the songs that he has finished contain "key themes of love and redemption" that will surprise some of his fans.
