It seems life does indeed find a way to make a sequel for another "Jurassic Park" franchise movie, as "Jurassic World 2: The Fallen Kingdom" will see the return of Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) from the original "Jurassic Park" movie.

Fresh from retirement, Malcolm and his iconic and cynical mathematician role will return for the sequel to 2015's "Jurassic World," which is a reboot of the "Jurassic Park" franchise. In a press tour for "Thor: Ragnarok," which Goldblum was also a part of, the actor revealed that he will be a part of "Jurassic World 2" and that he could help the predecessor's protagonists Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Darling (Bryce Dallas Howard), though his character would probably do it with ironic commentaries on the matter.

It seems that in the sequel, both Claire and Owen needed to call for expert help on the matter, as "Jurassic World" saw the eventual escape of the genetically modified dinosaur clones from the theme park, like what happened to the first Jurassic Park. This was why they had to call upon Malcolm who was involved the first catastrophic Jurassic Park.

Goldblum, while not being in the lead role, has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming sequel in a podcast interview, "It's small. Who knows, they may cut me out entirely. But if I star in, I'll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact." Goldblum also added that his character, Malcolm, "might have something to say about the confluence of circumstances around the use and misuse of technology," and particularly how the same mistake about dinosaur containment in "Jurassic Park" was repeated in "Jurassic World."

It is worth noting that Ian Malcolm, is actually a fan-favorite character from the original movie back in 1993, and has, since then, generated his own meme culture and fan following, even decades after the movie was released. Fans are hopeful that Goldblum will also return in the third "Jurassic World" movie and that it might also pave way for an original cast reunion.

"Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom" is set to be released on June 22, 2018.
