'iPhone X' specs and reviews: People are wondering if the $999 smartphone is worth it

Apple's latest smartphone product, the iPhone X Apple

With a price tag of $999, people are wondering if purchasing Apple's latest phone product, the Apple X, is worth it. The Apple X went on sale all over the world on Nov. 3.

Apple announced the iPhone 8 and iPhone X during an event at the Steve Jobs Theater on Sept. 12. Apple introduced the iPhone X to honor the 10th anniversary of the smartphone product.

During the presentation of the new product, new features were demonstrated like the Face ID that allows people to access and lock their device using a facial recognition system. The new camera features of the iPhone X include faster Telephoto lens and a new setup called TrueDepth camera. The iPhone 8's camera has the same in some settings like a dual-lens, 12-megapixel camera, six element lens, and Hybrid IR filter just like the X. However, the 8 model doesn't have the new features of X.

According to Cnet, the iPhone X captures better photos especially with the low light setting. However, the article also argued that considering the additional camera features, the additional $200 for buying an X model is not worth it. The iPhone X comes in 64 GB and 256 GB options. The product weights 174 grams and has a Super Retina HD display. In terms of performance, the X runs with an A11 Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture. The X operates with the iOS 11 that includes the Airplay 2, QuickType keyboard, and more.

One distinct difference between the iPhone X and all other Apple smartphones is the absence of the home button to make more room for the screen. According to the iPhone X description on the Apple website, one of the biggest vision of Apple is a smartphone that is entirely screen. It states, "Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience."
