Software developers have confirmed that the beta 2 version of the upcoming iOS 11.1 update was released earlier this week. Prior reports have already revealed that new emoji characters will arrive alongside the next major firmware update, although Apple is offering a bigger treat for the users with the return of 3D Touch multitasking gestures.
As reported by 9to5Mac, the iOS 11.1 beta 2 includes the new Unicode 10 emoji characters, which include gender-neutral and supernatural characters. While the new emojis are enough to give iPhone and iPad users their daily dose of entertainment, the iOS 11.1 beta 2 brings back 3D Touch multitasking features, which was previously dropped from the first beta update.
Many users were disappointed upon knowing that the 3D Touch multitasking gestures did not make it in the previous iOS 11 update. However, Apple made sure that the feature will return with a bang by making the 3D gestures more refined. It will now be easier to make a gesture on-screen. Users can also expect satisfying improvements with each gesture's corresponding animation.
The 3D Touch multitasking gestures are seen to be a very important part of iOS 11.1 update. For one, the gestures can be used to invoke the App Switcher faster. 3D gestures will also be useful in switching between two most recently opened application in a device. It should be noted, however, that the 3D Touch multitasking gestures are only supported by Apple devices with 3D Touch-enabled setting.
Aside from the new emoji characters and 3D Touch multitasking gestures, the iOS 11.1 beta 2 will provide bug fixes for the reachability issue in the home screen. The second beta update will also bring important changes in emergency SOS settings.
Following the iOS 11 beta 2 release this week, developers as well as regular Apple users can now download and install the firmware version to test its features. They can send in their own insights regarding the latest update for improvement. Value Walk mentioned that users can create their own beta account to test the update. They need to provide their Apple ID in order to get into the beta testing program.
