Now that former President Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is out of the picture in the new season of political drama "House of Cards," many will argue that no one can replace him as an integral symbol in the Netflix series. Well, think again because someone familiar is setting her sights on the president's chair -- Claire Underwood (Robin Wright).
As they say, out with the old and in with the new. In Netflix's new teaser trailer for the season finale of the hit, drama and political streaming series "House of Cards," it is evident that Claire is now the one holding power inside the White House.
The new preview aired alongside the Academy Awards on Sunday shows Frank's wife occupying the presidential seat as the 47th president of the fictional American society while wearing a devilish smirk.
At the start of the sneak-peek, the footage featured shots of the usual activities outside the presidential office before ultimately changing the focal point to Claire as she mutters to herself, "We're just getting started."
It can be recalled that earlier this year, Netflix decided to release Spacey from the show in light of sexual harassment and abuse accusations. Anthony Rapp, known for his work in "Star Trek," confessed that the 58-year-old actor sexually harassed him in 1986 when he was just 14 years old.
Spacey initially denied the allegations, which he claimed he does not recollect. However, after some time, the award-winning actor issued a public apology wherein he indicated that the occurrence was due to a "deeply inappropriate drunken behavior."
After this controversial admission, Netflix planned on retiring the series, however, after some thought they decided to change the central focus of the series toward Frank's wife, Claire.
In addition to this, the streaming giant also confirmed that Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will be jumping on board as part of the sixth season.
The release date of the web series has not been revealed, but Netflix says that the sixth and last season of the show will drop sometime this fall.
