'Game of Thrones' season 8 plot news: Kit Harington promises new season 'bigger than it's ever been'

Kit Harrington said the final season of Game of Thrones would be mind-blowing. HBO

Fans of "Game of Thrones" may have to wait for a whole year before its final season airs, but actor Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow in the series, promises fans that it's definitely worth the wait.

Harington recently had a chat with Time, discussing his latest stint as a producer for an HBO miniseries about his real-life ancestor Catholic rebel Robert Catesby. In the interview, of course, it can't be avoided that he would be asked about his views on the final season of GOT.

Harington revealed that he and other members of the cast are all quite emotional about the series' looming end, and that the whole thing is slowly sinking in. "I'm actually down in York, I'm back in Belfast [where the show is filmed] some next week," he said to Time.

"It's a lot of—it's just bigger than it's ever been! It is sinking in, it's just quite emotional. I don't know how I'm going to feel sometime next year when I've finished. It's quite a sudden shift, I guess, but it feels like the right time," he added.

Recent reports state that the whole members of the cast were already given a final copy of the script, and are issued a total "social media ban" by the whole production team to prevent spoilers. Meaning, they aren't allowed to post on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, or any social media site anything about the show.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) recently said that it's quite frustrating to see people spoiling the show to everyone. Last season, tons of episodes were spoiled ahead of their official release date, prompting the show to do extreme measures to prevent them from happening again. Clarke also said that the production team shot a few versions of the season finale, therefore preventing anyone from figuring out which one is real.

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are some of the main protagonists of "Game of Thrones," and according to them, even though they have been part of pretty mind-blowing scenes in the whole duration of the series, the finale pretty much shocked them. Still, that's all they can say about the last season.

"Game of Thrones" season 8 is said to consist of only six episodes, but each of them will all be feature-lengthed. The final season is slated to air sometime in 2019.
