"Frozen" has become the biggest Disney Animation Studios phenomenon since it premiered in 2013, so it was no surprise to anyone when the sequel was announced. While there are still a whole two years before "Frozen 2" premieres, voice actress Kristen Bell dropped some information about the upcoming movie that would surely get everyone excited.
Talking to Cinema Blend, Bell confirmed that she has already read and recorded the movie. Although there are changes made every now and then, she teased that "Frozen 2" is "very good." Apparently, she had a long conversation with director Jennifer Lee regarding the direction of the story, and she is very much excited about it.
"So they had just taken their trip to Norway, the directors and the producers, and they basically just take the entire culture in. And make this big sort of fun home movie," she told the publication." [They] take all of those elements and say 'What story needs to be told?'"
She went on to detail how hardworking the team has been, especially Lee, who she says is very methodical about the sequel's character development. According to her, the director had journaled for months to try and figure out what the characters would say.
"She's like, 'What do we want to say?' And then she's just journaling as Elsa, just journaling as Anna," Bell said. The director even sat down with her to know her thoughts on Anna's emotions in a particular scene.
Obviously, she could not give away any specifics. However, she did reveal one thing; there will be some exciting new characters in "Frozen 2." As to who they are and how significant their roles will, unfortunately, remain a mystery. Regardless, it should be just as good, if not better than the first film.
"Frozen 2" premieres on Nov. 27, 2019, with Bell (Anna), Josh Gad (Olaf), Idina Menzel (Elsa), and Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) reprising their roles. Also returning are Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez, as well as Chris Buck who will helm the film alongside Lee.
