Video game developer FoxNext Games has announced that it has plans of creating another "Alien" video game that is intended to hit the PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. Although details about the actual video game are scarce, fans of the science-fiction horror movies may be pleased to know that the franchise is very much alive with the confirmation of the upcoming title.
According to reports, FoxNext Games' decision to create another "Alien" title was made possible through its acquisition of independent video game developing company Cold Iron Studios -- which is based somewhere in the Bay Area in San Francisco established in 2015. Cold Iron Studios was originally founded by some former employees of Cryptic Studios, which was responsible for popular titles such as "Neverwinter" and "City of Heroes."
The acquisition is considered to be a big move by Fox Studios, especially since FoxNext Games was only established last year, but coincides with the studio's plan of dipping its toes in creating and delivering triple A games to its fans. The intended "Alien" game is meant to be a first-person shooter video game, and Fox aims to appeal to the fans of the movies by paying proper homage to it through careful attention to detail and a replication of atmosphere.
In a press conference, FoxNext Games president Aaron Loeb stated that he is a fan of a good number of games that the people of Cold Iron Studios have worked on in the past. The developers are planning to create a new game that is at par with the modern games that have been released in recent memory -- which are fast-paced and full of action and excitement.
Having that said, it is safe to assume that players can expect a healthy amount of online activity for the next "Alien" game. As of now, the developers have not given an estimated release date for the game.
