Former Newsboy Encourages Children to 'Rock and Roll' With their Bibles

|PIC1|Former Newsboys bassist, Phil Joel, hopes his latest kids project, the deliberateKids album, will go some way to hinder the "aggressive media assault" directed at children.

Now a solo artist and founder of deliberatePeople, Joel encourages children - and parents - to add a little rock 'n' roll to their Bible time.

Hot on the heels of last year's deliberatePeople album, Joel's first children's project begins a new chapter in the deliberatePeople movement.

He comments, "For the past six years, my wife Heather and I have been involved in children's ministry at our church. Kids are such little sponges, which is a great thing, provided we can surround them with the right content to soak up. As a parent, I'm looking for Bible-based tools to help raise my kids in a world where there is an aggressive media assault directed at our children. My hope is that this CD will be one of those tools."

Featuring upbeat rockers and fun sing-a-long lyrics deliberateKids teaches core spiritual principles and strong biblical truth. The project was birthed from songs Joel and his wife Heather wrote for their church Sunday school programme.

"Most of the CD's songs were written and used to reinforce our Sunday school teaching," explains Joel. "We decided to record the songs so that the kids could listen to them in the car or at home. But once we got the songs into the studio, they transformed into little energetic rock songs. The whole idea is to plant seeds of truth into the hearts of our kids while they are young through music that will be enjoyed by kids and parents alike.

"Phil has created a product combining great songs and fun production with lyrics that communicate God's principles in a relevant way," says Chris Thomason, president and co-founder of Indelible Creative Group. "I believe this 'kids' project is going to be a favourite of many adults for all of these reasons."
