'For Honor' dedicated server news: Ubisoft to drop dedicated servers for PS4 and Xbox One today

Fans of the action, hack and slash game "For Honor" should rejoice today as Ubisoft finally drops its dedicated online servers for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One Console, bringing with it improvements in players' connectivity and gameplay.

The newly running dedicated servers for both consoles will remedy ailments in the game's matchmaking aspect and boost connection stability throughout the title especially when it comes to PvP modes.

Previously, Ubisoft first implemented the new feature on the PC platform, which eliminated problems on resyncs and host transfers during matches. Alongside this, since matches are now no longer canceled when the host player quits or disconnects from the game, "For Honor's" game completion rates have increased by many folds.

Players, starting today, will no longer experience hiccups or interferences caused from host-migrations or disconnections when the game was still relying on P2P connections to function fully. Players who quit or are disconnected will be automatically replaced by a bot in the current online server.

Before this, Ubisoft refused to give in to players' pleas regarding dedicated servers for the game. However, in July of 2017, the game publisher changed its stance and announced that it will be implementing dedicated servers sometime this year, which, obviously, is now.

"For Honor" was initially released in February of last year. It garnered less-than-stellar reviews from gamers and critics alike, mainly due to its server issues. It sees players take on the role of Samurais, Vikings, and Knights set in medieval times, where players will be able to take control of their characters from a third-person view.

Recently, "For Honor's" player count has been steadily on the rise. Hopefully, the unveiling of this new dedicated servers will give the game the boost it needs, player count-wise.
