With just three months left before the release of "Far Cry 5," gamers are zoning on about what to expect from the 13-year-old franchise.

The latest installment in Ubisoft's first-person shooter game goes back to the current world, after the previous "Far Cry: Primal" brought the game to 10,000 BC.

Set in the rural Hope County, Montana, the players' task is to liberate the town's residents from a cult of religious fanatics, called Eden's Gate, that has taken over.

Just like most video games, the story is a jab at society. The cult is led by main villain Joseph Seed, who is said to be a deranged yet charismatic man who became powerful after gaining so many followers. In some ways, he represents real-life political figures in the game, albeit exaggerated.

According to Polygon, Ubisoft advises potential users to play the game until the end, to be able to understand each of the characters and where they are coming from.

As for gameplay, scattered around town are multiple characters who will give players missions to help build their "Resistance" meter against the cult. As this increases, the cult's leader grows increasingly infuriated, putting players in various story missions as he builds bigger defenses. Every quest finished also adds to the players' Resistance meter, and allies can be gained with every mission.

Sony showcased the multiplayer co-op at Paris Games Week 2017 last November, which multiplies the excitement and action of going through the entire campaign to the number of players involved.

Players can go online to team up with other players, or build a mini-army of hired goons. These guns-for-hire can either be bought at captured outposts or can be acquired by accomplishing character-specific missions, which unlock various individuals that come with specific skills.

"Far Cry 5" will hit the shelves on March 27, 2018.
