Larry Gillard knows people might raise their eyebrows when he tells them he can see the face of Jesus and even the crown of thorns in a fallen oak in the family backyard.
But he's convinced about what he sees, as are his wife Deena and 7-year-old granddaughter Kelsie.
In fact it was Kelsie who first spotted the seemingly miraculous in the dead oak that collapsed during a storm, KHOU reports.
"Something told me there was something on that tree. I just looked, and took a good look, and I was like, there's a cross," she said.
Deena couldn't agree more. "It's a sign. I'm telling you, it's a sign," the devout Christian said.
Larry says that a cross isn't the only thing that can be seen. He says he can see eyes "plain and clear", as well as a beard and the crown of thorns around the top of the head.
Despite the reactions they may get when they tell others, KHOU reports that the family are so convinced they are planning to put a protective fence around the tree.
"It is the face of Jesus Christ," Larry insisted. "Some people say I'm nuts or think I'm nuts, but I welcome them to come up here and sit and witness it for their own belief."
