Family of slain pregnant woman raises money for 'miracle' baby: 'God has plans for all of us'

The family of murdered pregnant woman Paola Eden Delgado Polanco is trying to raise money for funeral expenses, and to support the "miracle" baby doctors saved.

Authorities say the Delaware woman was six months pregnant when she was severely beaten with a baseball bat on October 19. Delgado Polanco gave birth before passing away on October 21.

Delgado Polanco, 21, was found unconscious inside of her trailer home in Bear, and was transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark. She gave birth to her baby girl three months early – and the child is in critical but stable condition.

Fernando Flores, 24, has been charged with manslaughter in the case, and is awaiting trial in the Howard R Young Correctional Institution. Delgado Polanco's family identified Flores as the victim's boyfriend in their GoFundMe account description.

The family hopes to raise $20,000 towards funeral expenses for Delgado Polanco and medical costs for the premature baby.

"Paola Eden Delgado Polanco was a young thriving girl and full of life, with charming simplicity and humility," the family wrote. "She died October 29 at her 21 years as a victim of domestic violence caused by her boyfriend in Bear, Delaware. Paola was six months pregnant, and by a miracle the baby survived.

"God has plans for all of us and Paola is now in the kingdom of heaven with our Heavenly Father. She was beautiful, but her inner beauty was far more radiant than her physical attractiveness.

"We urge support for funeral expenses and to send her body to rest in her home town of Puente de Camotlan Nayarit, Mexico. We also ask for your help in the expenses for her premature baby girl who has a long journey ahead of her. Thank you and may God bless you."

Over $2,000 has been raised of the family's goal.
