Duggar family recovers with grace from Josh's scandals after 'the devil took his best shot'

Eldest son Josh Duggar from the former TLC show "19 Kids and Counting" has returned to his family home in Arkansas after a six-month stay at the faith-based rehab facility in Rockford, Illinois.

Even though the public still can't move on from his child molestation and infidelity scandals, his brothers and sisters want nothing more than to move on from the past. They are trying to do so in their new show "Jill and Jessa: Counting On," which will follow the lives of the Duggar siblings.

While out promoting the new series, John-David told ABC News' Paula Faris how the family embraced the spirit of forgiveness during that difficult time.

"The devil took his best shot," he said. "And he tried to take our whole family down, but God has really used this to — instead of tearing us apart as a family, He's using it to draw us together... We've forgiven. We're moving on and we're looking to the future."

His younger sister Jessa Seewald added that it was actually a good thing their show got cancelled back then because the family wanted privacy to deal with their issues. "I think in the midst of what we were walking through, there definitely have to be periods where you're like, 'I don't want cameras around,'" she said.

Now, enough time has passed and the Duggar family has completely healed from Josh's scandals. Jessa is grateful for the strong support system their family has towards one another, and she hopes that their new show will serve the same purpose for people who are going through the same ordeal.

"If we can encourage even one other person out there who's struggling, then that needs to be our goal... we've had a lot of healing in our family these past few months and we're ready to move forward and share our lives," she said.
