DC Universe may be gearing up one of the most anticipated meetings between two omnipotent superheroes, as "Doomsday Clock" inches closer towards a Doctor Manhattan and Superman encounter.

This should be the first time that the two characters from two vastly different titles meet, and "Doomsday Clock" is making it so that it would be epic. It is not certain, however, how the two will react to each other. It will either be peaceful, or it will result in a hopeless deathmatch between the two, especially once Superman finds out that it was Doctor Manhattan who had been manipulating his known universe in the past years.

It can be recalled that the end of the first chapter of "Doomsday Clock" saw a troubled Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman. Prior to that, the vigilante Rorschach had been busy gathering the right people in order to help Ozymandias restore order to their world. This meant looking for a being with Godlike powers and a good set of morals to match, which could mean either Doctor Manhattan or Superman.

This poses complications, as rumors and theories have surfaced that in rewriting the history of Superman's universe in DC, Doctor Manhattan may have caused the death of his parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. This is made evident when Clark wakes up in a nightmare he's never had before, meaning it never happened during his childhood and only appeared when Doctor Manhattan changed Superman's the past.

With the possibility that Doctor Manhattan was the one responsible for the death of Superman's parents, his morals now become questionable, and it is speculated that he will be a villain in "Doomsday Clock." How Superman can defeat a being as powerful as Doctor Manhattan remains to be seen since the latter appears to be more powerful than him, being able to control reality and all.

More will be found out about the inevitable Superman and Doctor Manhattan clash once the second issue of "Doomsday Clock" arrives on Dec. 27.
