Border Agent Rogelio Martinez, 36, died after suffering severe injuries after being beaten to death at the southwest Texas border. United States President Donald Trump reiterated his plans to build a wall between Mexico and the U.S. after the tragic death of Martinez.

During an interview with the Washington Post, president of the Labor Union Brandon Judd said Martinez sustained multiple injuries after being attacked by people who were wielding rocks as weapons. "I have been told by several agents that it was a grisly scene, and that his injuries were very extensive. We believe he was struck in the head with rocks, or multiple rocks."

Martinez was rushed to the hospital aboard a rescue helicopter, but the agent did not make it through. Another agent was also badly wounded and is now under medical care. Comrades of Martinez in the U.S. Border Patrol paid tribute to their fallen friend and honored his service for the country.

There are still no updates with the case if the attackers were identified and police authorities are looking for potential witnesses.

Jose Martinez, father of Rogelio, told El Paso Times that his son was passionate about being a border agent. Jose recalled that he tried to convince Rogelio not to pursue becoming a border agent, but the latter refused. "He loved his job," Jose said.

After the death of Martinez, President Trump revisited one of the biggest agenda of his presidency, the wall. Trump assured the family and friends of Martinez that justice will be served for the people responsible. The POTUS tweeted, "Border Patrol Officer killed at Southern Border, another badly hurt. We will seek out and bring justice those responsible. We will, and must, build the Wall!"

It has been a while since Trump brought up his plans to build the wall. Trump, after becoming the president, has been vocal about the Wall he wants to fortify between the U.S. and Mexico.
