Dillon King recalls 'mess-ups' he made in front of wife Amy Duggar's conservative family

Amy Duggar King is unlike her cousins Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald from "19 Kids and Counting," and it was a good thing she found a man who is able to match both her vivacious lifestyle and her family's conservative values.

However, her husband Dillon King admitted recently that he took quite a few missteps in dealing with Amy's family. "I made some pretty good mess-ups," he told PEOPLE. "No one told me how conservative they were and I never watched the show!"

One time, Amy invited Dillon to a birthday party and her little cousin Jordyn came up to him and started asking random questions. "She asked me my favourite colour and I said 'black.' Her face was like 'Oh God!' and she said, 'Really?' And I was like 'Yeah, black is a pretty sexy colour,'" said Dillon.

Amy kicked Dillon so hard back then for shocking Jordyn. That was not the only thing he did wrong in front of Jim Bob and Michelle and their kids. On another occasion, Dillon danced into the room and Amy recalled how her family "turned on a dime and looked away."

"(Dancing) is considered sexual," explained Amy.

Despite their glaring differences, the Duggar family have accepted Dillon while Dillon has been trying his best to respect their beliefs. "My family is very, very accepting," said Amy.

Dillon said, "I don't think it's a big deal. As long as I know their rules and the do's and dont's of their household, it's not that hard to respect that."

When they are alone, however, Dillon and Amy like to do things their way. "Sometimes on our way over to my uncle's we'll just crank up Drake in the car and rap it out before we get there!" Dillon said.
