Just when game enthusiasts thought that the "Deus Ex" game series has been discontinued, Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda revealed that a new installment is about to come. In fact, it is now in its preliminary stages and already on the video game company's development lineup.

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Matsuda explained that game developer Eidos Montreal continuously develops "Deus Ex." Unfortunately, the only problem is that they have limited resources.

However, the CEO insisted that they never said they are going to end the "Deus Ex" game series, although the rumor about its discontinuation is prevalent. This might be because of the players' underwhelming acceptance of the 2016 "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided."

In fact, it was earlier reported that Square Enix decided to put the game on hiatus because of its poor sales. With that, Matsuda went on to explain that they have a number of big titles in the works, thus the making of the action role-playing video game is still pending.

And although they wanted to work on all the games at the same time, some titles really have to wait for their turn. The studio has now shifted in developing Marvel games. It is also reported that Eidos Montreal is now developing a new Avengers game, which is said to be taking a great part of the company's resources.

"The reason there isn't a 'Deus Ex' right now is just a product of our development lineup because there are other titles we are working on," he said. Now that the game is in development, Matsuda also revealed that they are now "internally discussing and exploring" what the next installment would be all about.

Matsuda proudly said that "Deus Ex" is a "very important franchise" for Square Enix. So, fans just have to wait for the video game company's official announcement about the title's development.
