Confused about which decision to make? Here's the best way for you to figure out what God wants you to do

The Christian is given an edge when it comes to making decisions in life. Not only are we given direction in the Word of God, we also have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth. Yet, despite these, many Christians are still confused about what to do with their lives. Sadly, there are times we don't make wise decisions.

This not what God intended for us.  Instead, God promised to give wisdom to those who lack it - and ask for it. Our God is a good, good Father like no other, and He delights in seeing us achieve great things for Him. In fact, we don't have to do something extraordinary. It's as simple as living our lives uprightly.

However, that's where some Christians fall: living uprightly. The Lord Jesus tells us that if we desire to follow Him (that's what a real Christian does), we will need to deny ourselves (our fleshly desires), take up our cross (put our carnal selves to death), and then follow Him (make efforts to live our lives the way He wants us to). Here's where the confusion sets in. We often ask God, 'Lord, what do I do?' Friend, the answer is plainly laid out before you: read the Word of God, obey it, and pray about it.

Breaking free from confusion

Confusion is the state wherein we can't make up our mind for lack of direction. Simply put, Christians who are confused about what to do lack one thing: vision. Knowing what God wants you to be and to do sets you free from confusion.

The Bible tells us that "without vision (a clear view and understanding of God's will), people perish." We need to get God's vision for our lives so that we make the right decisions in life!

Getting God's directions

There's no better way to get directions from the Lord than to pray and read the Bible. The Bible is "God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, rebuke, correction and instruction." It contains God's heart and will for every man and woman under the sun. Here are some of the things that God wants, according to the Word:

- That all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4);

- That all men would repent of their sin and be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:19);

- That all who believe in Christ will be conformed to His image (Romans 8:29);

- That all believers will live as children of God, manifesting His character towards all men (1 John 3:1); and

- That every knee would bow and every tongue would confess that Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).

We are given the freedom to choose whatever we desire in life, but if what you are planning doesn't line up with any of these things, think again. God wants us to live life abundantly (see John 10:10) and free from any bondage of sin and self.

Seek His counsel in His Word. He will surely help you.
