She was known as "The Living Saint" when she was still alive, but soon she will be canonised as a full-fledged saint.

As the Roman Catholic Church prepares for her canonisation, it was revealed that Blessed Teresa of Calcutta had visions ot Jesus Christ and communication with Him when she was still a 36-year-old nun.

Father Sebastian Vazhakala, Mother Teresa's friend for 30 years, said he has documents handwritten by the soon-to-be-saint that revealed how Jesus Christ spoke to her directly.

"It was a big discovery," said Fr. Vazhakala, who co-founded the contemplative branch of the Missionaries of Charity alongside Mother Teresa, as quoted by The Catholic News Agency.

According to the documents in Fr. Vazhakala's possession, Mother Teresa communicated directly with Jesus through words and visions from Sept. 10, 1946 to Dec. 3, 1947. At that time, she was still a missionary sister in the Irish order of the Sisters of Loreto, and teaching at St. Mary's school in Calcutta.

For instance, Blessed Teresa wrote how she heard Jesus speak these words as she received Holy Communion: "I want Indian nuns, victims of my love, who would be Mary and Martha, who would be so united to me as to radiate my love on souls."

It was also Blessed Teresa's communication with Jesus that inspired her to form her congregation, the Missionaries of Charity.

According to the records, Jesus even told Blessed Teresa of the kind of missionaries He wants to be part of the congregation: "I want free nuns covered with the poverty of the Cross. I want obedient nuns covered with the obedience of the Cross. I want full-of-love nuns covered with the charity of the Cross."

Vazhakala further said that because she can speak directly with Jesus, Mother Teresa was also able to share His love to others.

"She was so united with Jesus," the missionary priest explained, "that she was able to radiate not her love, but Jesus' love through her, and with a human expression."
