Christian author says women can enjoy their marriages more if they learn to be submissive

Italian writer Costanza Miriano knows the secret to a happy marriage. The author of the bestselling book "Marry Him and Be Submissive" says women should adhere to the advice given by St. Paul — sotto messo, which means to be "placed under" their husbands.

Miriano clarifies that being "under" does not mean a woman has the most insignificant position in the family. In fact, the woman has an important job because she is going to be the foundation that supports everyone — her husband and her children.

She is certain majority of women will reject her book as crazy and outdated, since they have grown up believing that women are happiest when they do things for themselves and pursue the things they want, such as their careers.

But Miriano believes otherwise. "The truth is exactly the opposite: A woman is happy when she gives life. Not only in the sense of giving birth to babies, but in the sense of taking care of life," she tells The Christian Post. "I have plenty of successful friends: journalists, doctors, actresses, engineers. At some point of their life they found out they are alone. They refused the idea to depend on someone else. But the truth is that we do depend on someone else's glance."

Miriano says women need to be loved. The most important love they have to seek is from God. If women don't marry God, just like the nuns do, then Mirano says they need to receive love from a man.

"There is a mass of women, grown up thanks to the teachings of our Mother, the Holy Church, who are happy to be a wife, a mother, even a working mother, who is not afraid to say: I need my husband, I need protection," she shares. "It's beautiful to depend on someone who loves me, who has chosen me. I owe my whole life to the Church: if I didn't grow up in a parish, learning the Church's teachings, I would be a very different person, surely unhappy."
