The highly anticipated appearance of an iconic character from "Breaking Bad" in the third season of "Better Call Saul" has been confirmed by lead star Bob Odenkirk.

During his "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" guesting Wednesday night, Odenkirk told host Jimmy Kimmel that the fan theory regarding the appearance of Giancarlo Esposito's character Gus Fring in "Better Call Saul" season 3 is actually possible.

"I'm looking for him. He's coming back," Odenkirk stated in the interview, as reported by Time. "They didn't think everyone would scrutinize the show that closely, and they did it, and the cats out of the bag. So I imagine he'll be in the first moment. That's what I...Let's go. Let's get to it, right?"

Fring was known in the "Breaking Bad" series as the notorious drug kingpin who also owns the Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant chain. He was originally connected to the Mexican Juarez Cartel. He was killed by a bomb set by Tio Salamanca (Mark Margolis) at the end of season 4.

But could Fring's return also mean that his former meth cook, Walter White (Bryan Cranston), will also appear in the spin-off series? Fans of the original "Breaking Bad" series would surely look forward to this reunion in case it happens.

Meanwhile, Odenkirk revealed in a separate interview with The Wrap the plans of showrunner Vince Gilligan for the plot of "Better Call Saul" season 3.

"This season is gonna be about how innocence gets torn away. We learn that Saul is just who he's pretending to be to get back at the world... Season 3 is when things will really explode," the actor stated.

Odenkirk also shared one of his most unforgettable scenes in the series, saying: "I love being hogtied in the desert begging for my life — they're some of my favorite scenes."

AMC has yet to announce the official premiere date of "Better Call Saul" season 3, but the series is expected to return sometime in 2017.
